Like, I’m literally going to binge read Raven Flight right now. Yet, as the novel progresses, we slowly begin to understand Neryn a bit more and are able to see the events in her past which have made her the way she is. Juliet Marillier writes beautifully and I devoured every word of it; this was probably the aspect that transcended my expectations most.
I admired her resilience, her strength, her kindness, and her hopeful nature, so I definitely did like her and I even shadowfsll how so much of her past had made her the way she was, but I was still hoping for something more from her overall which I, unfortunately, did not get to see.

I’m defiently going have to re read Shadowfell, loved it the first time but I’m starting to forget some of the details: We are experiencing technical difficulties. The king’s soldiers hunt down fairy creatures and any shadowfel who has a magical gift, subjecting many to the terrible practice of mind-scraping, which turns them into halfwits. Nevertheless, she makes for the perfect protagonist for a quest plot, as she encounters, and overcomes, a number of scenarios and obstacles. During her dangerous journey, she receives aid from jjuliet Good Folk, who tell her she must pass a series of tests in order to recognize her full potential. I have never liked for serials to end that way. The first half of the book is mostly Neryn walk I definitely see how this story was too slow for a lot of people, but I thought it was all rather peaceful because I loved the setting so much!
Dinna be afeart o’ the shadows; they canna harm ye. That said, I’d still highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good fantasy. A tyrannical king has practically snuffed magic out of the world, except for his own private use.
Her inner monologue and thoughts are very readable and easily engrossing, but I do think that a more skeptical eye, a more discerning look at what she sees and hears, would clear up a lot of unnecessary conflicts that pop up more than once with Flint. No trivia or quizzes yet. I think the book is definitely worth a read for those who are curious about it. Both the human and Good Folk characters are distinctly portrayed and developed, drawing the reader into the story.
