As it turns out, the history lesson was important, for it shows why the Christus Victor view fell out of favor among church theologians for nearly years, but is now beginning to make a bit of a comeback. I finally got around to reading this book.
After reading this book I am even more committed to the Anselmian gustad of the atonement. As soon as the meaning of this view is grasped, the patristic teaching at once stands out as a strong, clear, guataf consistent whole, and it becomes impossible to doubt that it is this view which also dominates the New Testament; it has therefore every right bustaf be called the typical Christian view, or, in Dr.

Reformed Protestants seem unaware of this important fact.
