Guido Mocafico: Blaschka

Nature Morte gkido focuses on photographs inspired by the aesthetics of Old Masters. The exhibition shows about 20 photographs in juxtaposition with Old Master paintings. He plays with his viewers, drawing us into a world of shadows, light, colour and texture, then throws us into confusion whilst we attempt to make sense of the illusion. Click here to see more of the exhibition. At first glance, the photographs seem hardly distinguishable from the compositions of the Old Masters that supplement the exhibition, because in his remarkable works, which are planned down to the last detail, Mocafico replicates typical still lifes of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Mocafico, however, takes it one step further, creating the illusion of painting through photography — the ultimate expression of hyper-reality.
