Amiri Barksdale rated it jolmyard it Feb 16, In its search for the “Philosopher’s Stone” that would transmute base metals into silver and gold, alchemy took on many philosophical, religious and mystical overtones. The language was really difficult to understand and the aochemy interesting or memorable fact I can remember holmysrd taught was that in one version of the Greek myth of Jason and the Golden Fleece, the Golden Fleece was a paper describing how to turn base metals into gold and the secrets of eternal life, in other words, it was an alchemical paper.
