I did not know any of the backstory to this- the anonymous Soldier of Fortune articles that were attributed to the author that he is rebutting in the book, so I got started with this is just a combat narrative. There are many books written about the Iraq war, this is one of the few really good ones.

But his claims have sent the online veteran community into an uproar, with many vets calling them implausible and some men who served with him saying his statements are downright falsehoods.
