In my tipsy state, the book took on a highly comedic tone, which led me to a rather interesting and possibly slightly drunken philosophical thought: Putting that aside, I loved the melodrama, the so-lush-it’s-almost-porn way the author described clothes and food, and the characters, all of whom were well developed. I should make a Bertie one tho. View all 9 comments.

This book is set in the time of Henry the VIII and was a pleasant change of berrtice time period for me from my usual Regencies. There were some things that, while they may have been historically accurate, couldn’t help but make me cringe, such as when Lord Morgan tells his year-old daughter that it’s time to find her a husband.

This is a romance that needs the Harlequin Title Generator tm. Bertrice Small puts the history in historical romance. I simply found it unbelievable that Blaze’ s own view spoiler [ sister conspires to murder her in a most gruesome way, in order to steal her husband, and, when the plot is found out and averted, she is then rewarded by having her crime covered up, forgiven, coddled and married off to a wealthy nobleman who falls in love with her at first sight.
